Bye Bye Scooters

Come next year, scooters and similar devices will be banned on campus.
Stonehill College announced it was prohibit omg use and possession of what the school calls micro mobility devices for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
In an email sent out on April 23, Tom Flynn, the Vice President and head of General Counsel, informed students that as of May 19 electric scooters, electric skateboards, electric bikes, and other mobility devices will not be allowed on campus.
Those violating the new policy will likely be subjected to the community standards process, as is the expectation for breaking most of the college's guidelines. The policy is put into place following reported safety concerns.
Earlier this school year in December Stonehill sent out an email regarding some guidelines for scooter users to follow.
The guidelines defined parameters around speeds, charging practices, and areas where riding was prohibited.
But due to the newly adopted policy banning the use of scooters and other mobility devices on campus it seems as though the guidelines defined in December proved not to be very effective at ensuring the safety and security of students on campus when it involves mobility devices.
